Harvest Day Celebrates Community In Yardley: Photos

YARDLEY BOROUGH, PA — Flowing from Lake Afton to Buttonwood Park, crowds visited the tents of vendors, sampled the various offering food trucks, and celebrated a day of community.

It was the annual Yardley Harvest Day on Saturday and everywhere you turned, community was on display.

Throughout the day-long festival, performers strummed acoustic guitars as Council President David Appelbaum — wearing a bright Beatles Yellow Submarine shirt — sat in a chair under a tent as temperatures reached the 80s.

Appelbaum saw a sea of tents and people before him as crowds and vendors wound around the park and overflowed toward Lake Afton, the home of the Yardley Historical Association, where Susan Taylor greeted people entering the library.

Meanwhile, at the main Harvest Day tent, Rich Wayne —the event organizer — took a break to eat some lunch and catch his breath for a minute.

Manning the tent and handing out T-shirts and cloth bags during the day were Mayor Caroline Thompson and former Councilman Jared Stump.

At a nearby booth, Gather Place founder Shirley Corsey greeted people and talked about history while wearing a Philadelphia Eagles apron.
