Hockey Puck Shatters Window At Yardley Historical Association
Association members are asking Lake Afton skaters to keep their games further from the Old Library building, built in 1878.

YARDLEY, PA — The volunteers at Yardley Historical Association say they love the skaters who come grace neighboring Lake Afton. But they're hoping for one of them to come forward after a stray hockey puck broke a window at the association's 141-year-old headquarters.
The association, at 46 W. Afton Ave. in Yardley, took to Facebook this week to urge hockey players to move out of range of the historic Old Library building, saying that "once again" a puck had broken a window.
"And no one has had the courage/courtesy to fess up," the association said in the post.

Built in 1878, the Old Library building was taken over by the historical association in 1977. It is used as the association's headquarters and is often rented out for weddings and other events.
The building was built on land donated by the heirs of William Yardley, who settled in the area in 1682 on land purchased from William Penn.

In 1959, when the building was threatened by a proposed route for Interstate 95, concerned citizens donated funds for an addition to the building, which was used as a community library until 1977.
Anyone who would like to contribute to the cost of replacing the window pane may send a check to Yardley Historical Association, P.O. Box 212, Yardley, PA 19067.
