Leaf Collection Takes Place This Week In Yardley, Lower Makefield

YARDLEY, PA —It's time to get rid of all those leaves covering your lawn or clogging up your gutters.

Yardley Borough and Lower Makefield Township are both in leaf collection mode this week with dates slated for pickup and removal.

In Lower Makefield Township, officials said Phase 1 is continuing with collection Monday in zones 15-20. Zones 21-26 will be collected next Monday, Nov. 21.

Officials said a schedule for Phase 11 collection will be announced once the first phase is completed. Click here to see a map of the entire township divided into Zones 1 – 26.

Lower Makefield officials ask that leaves should be left out a few days early in case collection is ahead of schedule. Leaves will be collected in inclement weather, depending on the severity. This will, however, slow down the process which will delay pickup.

Leaves cannot be collected if there are sticks, twigs, branches, or wood mixed in. This damages equipment. Officials also ask to move vehicles parked near leaf piles.

Meanwhile, in Yardley Borough, a collection is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19, with the last collection scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3. The borough conducted a collection on Nov. 5.

Yardley's Leaf Collection Program takes place three times a year with Waste Management disposing of the leaves at its leaf composting facility.

Officials said that leaves will not be accepted in any type of plastic bag and that they must be placed in paper biodegradable pages for collection. Those bags can be purchased at area stores.

Bags must be placed at the curb by no later than 6 a.m. on collection day.

Leaves will not be collected again until next fall.
