Lower Makefield Raises Minimum Age For Pool
The township's supervisors approved the change last week, putting Lower Makefield in line with other pools in the area.

LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA — Starting next year, kids are going to have to be a little bit older to visit the swimming pool complex in Lower Makefield without adult supervision.
The township's parks and recreation department announced Monday that the minimum age to go to the pool without parents next year will be 14, up from the current age of 11. The change was made based on the recommendation of the township's insurer, the department said in a Facebook post.
"This decision was made in consideration for the safety of our pool members and staff," the post said. "The recommendation for the age change was supported by the Parks and Recreation Board on October 9, 2018. The Board of Supervisors reviewed and approved this policy change on December 5, 2018."

The change puts Lower Makefield in line with other public pools in the area. In Perkasie, Northampton, Lower Merion, and at Fanny Chapman in Doylestown, the minimum age is 14. It's 16 years old at the pool in Lower Southampton, the department said.
Anyone with questions or concerns about the new police may contact parks and recreation Director Monica Tierney at 267-274-1112 or at monicat@lmt.org.
