Man Convicted For Lower Makefield Home Burglaries

A 26-year-old man has been convicted of burglarizing 5 Bucks County homes and violently assaulting a couple during a robbery in 2012.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A 26-year-old man has been convicted of burglarizing five Bucks County homes and violently assaulting a couple during a robbery in Middletown Township nearly five years ago, authorities announced Friday.

Oliver Cabrera of Trenton, NJ has been convicted of corrupt organizations, conspiracy, and multiple counts of robbery, burglary, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief in connection with the 2012 crimes.

Authorities say Cabrera was part of a New Jersey-based burglary and robbery ring that struck 18 homes in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The crimes occurred from late July to mid-September 2012 in Lower Makefield, Middletown and Upper Makefield Townships, the District Attorney's office said.

Typically, Cabrera would force his way into the homes while no one was there. He stole jewelry, guns, computers, cash, and, in one case, a Lexus. Three of the families suffered losses exceeding $19,000 each, the District Attorney's office said.

On Sept. 10, 2012, Cabrera was one of three men who forced their way into an occupied Middletown home, and violently assaulted and robbed an elderly couple.

Two of Cabrera’s co-defendants have already received sentences of seven and one-half to 15 years in state prison. A fourth man charged in Bucks County is still awaiting trial.

Cabrera's sentencing date has not yet been set.

The case was investigated by the Lower Makefield, Middletown and Upper Makefield Township Police Departments.
