The donation comes from Jim McCaffrey IV, co-owner of McCaffrey’s Food Markets, who fully understands the importance of keeping communities safe.

Before joining his father, Jim McCaffrey III in the business, Jim McCaffrey IV was a former K-9 officer and has firsthand knowledge of how important the role a K-9 plays in community policing.

Working with Tamburo and Kennel Zo Slovenskeho Dvora in Trumbull, CT., the selection of a dual-purpose Belgian Malinois was chosen.

The team started extensive training in October 2022 at the Philadelphia Police Canine Training facility and has recently graduated from the patrol and narcotics programs.

K-9 Judge is a dual-purpose patrol dog and will specialize in obedience, tracking, building/area searches, evidence recovery, suspect apprehension, and detection of illegal narcotics.

K-9 Judge joins the current K-9 Unit, which consists of two additional canines trained in narcotics and bomb detection.

K-9 Judge will become a staple in the township and will be on display for many community events and public demonstrations.

"We want to thank McCaffrey’s Food Markets for recognizing the community's needs and caring
about the residents of Lower Makefield Township," organizers said in a press release.
