MORRISVILLE, PA — Police in Morrisville have arrested a man they say is part of a trend of "porch pirate" thefts local authorities have been fighting.

On Thursday, Morrisville Police officers were called at 8:39 p.m. to the 300 block of Clymer Avenue. There, residents said the theft had happened two days earlier.

A woman told officers her security camera had captured a man stealing a package off of her front porch. On Thursday, officers made contact with Thaddeus White, 58, who they say matched the description of the thief.

They say White later admitted to stealing the package. He was taken to Bucks County Prison, where he was being held in lieu of 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

With online shopping established as all the rage, police are increasingly warning residents to beware of thieves looking to take advantage by stealing packages left unattended on their porches.

In Bucks County, authorities have warned residents about the trend, with cases reported in Northampton, Bristol, Bensalem, Newtown, Plumstead and elsewhere.

In December — a particularly tough month for "porch pirate" thefts due to the holiday shopping season — local police warned residents to be on the lookout.

Police recommend that if you have packages scheduled to be delivered, be sure someone is there to accept the package or have it shipped to a location where you'll be during the day, such as work.
