Officer Struck Several Times In Face By Lower Makefield Teen: Police

Lower Makefield Police tried to pull over a 19-year-old man during a suspicious vehicle incident last week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —A 19-year-old man is in custody after assaulting a township police officer during a suspicious vehicle incident last week.

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department responded at 10:29 p.m. on July 16 at the 1100 block of Edgewood Road at Stoddard Field after observing a suspicious vehicle.

Police said the vehicle fled the scene when they attempted to approach the man for an investigation.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which disregarded all law enforcement commands and traffic laws, nearly striking two police vehicles, police said.

The registration of the vehicle showed the driver lived on the 1400 block of Woodview Road.

Police followed the vehicle to the home, where the driver got out and attempted to go into the house.

He continued to ignore police commands to stop and was tased, police said.

The man continued to refuse to comply and struck an officer in the face multiple times.

He was eventually taken into police custody.

The man was charged with Aggravated Assault, Fleeing and Euding, Resisting Arrest, and traffic-related charges.

He was arraigned by District Justice Marriott and sent to BCCF instead of $30,000 with 10 percent bail.
