Pennsbury Expands Pre-K Program To Full Day

The pre-K program, now full day, is held at Walt Disney, Penn Valley, and Manor elementary schools, as well as Morrisville YMCA.

Pennsbury School District is expanding its preschool program for 3- and 4-year-old children this year, thanks to a joint effort between Pennsbury and the Morrisville YMCA. The program, previously half day, will now be full day and offered at three sites, the district said in an announcement.

The Pre-K Counts Program is a full-day preschool program that is funded entirely by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning. It is open to children of families in Bucks County who meet income eligibility guidelines. Children must be 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 1 to participate.

For the 2018-2019 school year, the 4-year-old program will be held at Manor Elementary School, Walt Disney Elementary School, and Penn Valley Elementary School. The 3-year old program is held at the Morrisville YMCA.

“The Pre-K Counts Program benefits our community’s youngest learners to prepare them for a successful kindergarten experience. We are very excited to have full-day Pre-K this year, with classes at Walt Disney, Manor, and Penn Valley elementary schools,” said Walt Disney Elementary School Principal Laurie Ruffing.

According to Ruffing, the school uses Scholastic’s Big Day for PreK curriculum. Certified teachers are on hand to help the children build the skills needed for kindergarten. For further information and applications, click here.
