Pennsbury School Board Elections: Results

A mixed group of incumbents and challengers looked poised for victory in the school board races Tuesday night.

YARDLEY, PA — Ten candidates were vying for five positions on the Pennsbury School Board in municipal elections being held Tuesday.

The crowded field includes four incumbents and six newcomers.

By shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, vote totals were still too close to call, with only 19 of 35 districts being reported on the Bucks County Elections website.

In Region 1, incumbent T.R. Kannan easily fended off Vanessa Fiori in the race to represent much of Lower Makefield and all of Yardley. Kannan defeated Fiori on the Republican ballot — the only one on which she filed to run — 742-409.

Kannan also filed as a Democrat, winning 1,659 votes on that ballot.

In Region 2, incumbent Gary S. Sanderson appeared to be headed for a new term, finishing as one of the three top vote-getters on both the Democratic and Republican ballots.

Incumbent John Palmer also finished in the top three on the Democratic ballot, along with challenger Sherwood D. Taylor II.

On the Republican side, Taylor and fellow challenger Michael Pallota made the top three and will vie for the post in November's general election.

Region 2 represents parts of Falls and all of Tullytown.

In Region 3, it appears the race between incumbent Christian Schwartz and challenger Bill Denton isn't over.

On the Democratic ballot, Schwartz narrowly defeated Denton in unofficial returns, 897-859. But on the Republican side, Denton looks to have won handily, 648-351.

Region 3 represents parts of Falls and Lower Makefield.
