Photographer Josh Friedman captured this snapshot for this new weekly Patch photo feature.

For photography enthusiasts, Friedman said this is an HDR (high dynamic range) image from four exposures that he merged.

HDR is a technique that can be useful in high-contrast scenes.

For instance, in this scene, the sky was far brighter than the barn and other buildings, Friedman said.

While at the farm, Friedman took multiple exposures, making sure to have a "correct" exposure for both the brightest parts of the scene, as well as exposures for the darker parts of the scene. He then used special software to blend the different exposures.

"This allows the final photograph to more realistically reflect what our eyes see," Friedman said.
