State Lawmakers To Address School Funding In Morrisville

MORRISVILLE BOROUGH, PA — State lawmakers will review the results of a recent school funding formula that helped boost the borough's school system last year.

The Policy Committee will speak with school administrators at a roundtable and tour at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Morrisville High School at 550 West Palmer Street.

In July, the Morrisville School District secured an additional $3.5 million in funding through the state budget — in what will be a permanent addition to the district’s base funding.

The school district had warned last year that it might have to close due to funding issues.

The PA House Majority, working with Senate Democrats, fought to fund chronically underfunded schools, providing funding desperately needed.

The committee will talk with administrators on how additional funds are being used and how the school foresees the state investment being used in the education of children in the years to come.

State Rep. Jim Prokopiak, who represents the borough of Morrisville and portions of Bucks County, was hosting the event.
