Summer Camp Experience of a Lifetime

The Solid Rock Youth Center provides an exceptional camp with a high degree of learning and fun. With a mix of independent and organized activities, educational and recreational, this Summer Camp programming keeps students active, engaged, and learning all in a safe and welcoming environment creating lifelong memories. Activities promote teamwork, responsibility, good ethics, strategic thinking, leadership, creative and critical thinking, and problem-solving. Every week is centered on a favorite book theme helping them to explore their world, history, and imagination. Themes include Magic School Bus, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Pirates, Wishbone Classics, Magic Tree House, Liberty Kids, Around the World, and more.

Weekly activities include: literacy, art projects, science, team games, outside activity, human hamster balls, gaga ball, water games, and special projects. Campers explore a different world each week by going on nature scavenger and treasure hunts, building boxcars and other projects, exploring imagination worlds, fort building, crafts, music, going to the local park and canal, and more. Each day brings a new challenge and project for the theme of the week and the campers!

One parent stated, "If you have children in the 6-12 year range, I highly recommend the day camp at SRYC. My children had a ball (literally) last summer at this camp!"

Due to the unique nature of the camp, SRYC Summer Camp is especially well fitted for homeschoolers who would like to complete school days during the summer. Each week brings in school projects in such a fun way campers don't even realize, their camp day can be counted as school! One parent explained, "Each camp week has a different theme with specific educational objectives which can be easily recorded in next year’s portfolio! Let the staff know you homeschool, and they can help you out!"

Camp runs from June 24 through August 23, 8:30 AM to 4 PM, with before and after care also available. Campers should be between 6 and 12 years old. It is also special needs friendly. As one parent put it, "The camp staff is uniquely suited for handling medically-complex children allowing them to have a very normal camp experience alongside their medically-typical peers."
