"I am proud of the township improvements and accomplishments during my 5-year, 8-month tenure on the board," Weiss said.

During his tenure, Weiss said he was instrumental in achieving a positive financial turnaround, which includes an improved Moody’s bond rating, healthy fund balance, and financial trust to ensure township solvency for generations; saving more than 50 township-owned acres from development; creating a new master plan, allowing for mixed-use development in the Office/Corporate Park (resulting in new streams of revenues for both the township and schools); establishing a citizens committee to develop a plan preserving Patterson Farm buildings; and starting to mitigate stormwater issues in the Maplevale neighborhood.

Weiss said during his two years as chairman, "we made the decision to sell our sanitary sewer system to Aqua, develop 'Prickett Preserve,” implement a plan to double our road paving program, hire more staff, modernize our online infrastructure and services all without raising taxes," Weiss said. "These decisions also allowed us to eliminate more than half our debt, create a township trust to reduce the pressure to raise real estate taxes, made the golf course profitable, and passed an open space ordinance which will keep more than 100 additional acres from development."

Township Manager David Kratzer said that Weiss was elected in November 2017 and served as a supervisor for five years and seven months.

Over the course of that time, he served as chairman for one year and seven months with 12 months in 2020 and seven months this year, Kratzer said.

According to his biography on the township's website, the longtime resident and Democrat is a Penn State graduate and holds a dental degree from Temple University.

He founded his own dental practice in 1980, is the past master of his Masonic Lodge, and served as a Civil Air Patrol officer and active volunteer pilot for Angel Flight and PALS, transporting medically fragile patients and wounded war veterans to and from medical care appointments.

Weiss also served as state commander and national finance officer with the Civil Air Patrol.

He was in the U.S. Army as a dental officer from 1978 to 1980, and as a reservist from 1980 to 1995, retiring with the grade of major, his supervisor profile states.

Weiss is married to Cynthia Osofsky Weiss. They have four children between them, and seven grandchildren.

"I am proud of my legacy," Weiss said. "I leave the board knowing Lower Makefield is stronger and on track to be a better place to 'live, work, and play.'”
