Veterans Day Parade Set For Saturday In Lower Makefield Twp.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TWP. —Lower Makefield Township will start Veterans Day ceremonies on Saturday, a week earlier than the national holiday.

Lower Makerfield’s Veterans Day parade and ceremony will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4, starting at 1 p.m. at Veterans Square, Heacock and Edgewood roads, across from Woodside Church and the Masonic Lodge

This year’s parade marshal is township resident Kenneth C. Myerson, said Russell Davidson, commander of VFW Post No. 6393.

Myerson is a U.S. Air Force veteran who served our nation between 1957 and 1965 primarily in the United States, and as a C-119 Flying Boxcar crew member on the then almost unknown supply flights to Vietnam.

During these early years of the Vietnam War, supply missions were conducted by the Pacific Air Force.

In March 1966 the Airforce’s oldest Seventh Air Force was reactivated under the 2d Air Division and conducted the missions many of us learned about starting in 1965 with the first large-scale news coverage of the war, Davidson said.

Airman 2nd Class Myerson served as a specialty airborne radio operator using a Morse Code Telegraph Key and as a supply management specialist supervising ground logistics, item, and inventory stock control, accounting, and forecasting. These often overlooked and unheralded positions are critical to our nation’s security and tactical operations.

For his time in service, Airman Meyerson was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Airforce Good Conduct Medal, the Cold War Medal, the United States Air Force Training Ribbon, and the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Honoree Medal.

While on reserve duty, Airman Myerson graduated from Penn State University in 1963 with a BS in Industrial Engineering. Throughout his career, he worked with the Bendix Corp. and the Fisher and Porter Corporation as a reverse engineering specialist.

In 1978. Myerson made his first trip to China starting a 30-year career of international buying, selling, and shipping shoes. In 2010, Myerson joined the Patriot Guard Riders and the celebrated Guardians of the Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Myerson attended, as a Guardian, the 1st burial at Washington Crossing on January 19th. 2010. He is one of three standing original Guardians. 2023 marks his 14th year of service.

Additionally, Myerson has served more than 10 years as a volunteer Fire Police Officer with the Yardley Makefield Fire Company. He is a member of American Legion Post 317 serving as the Adjutant.

Myerson is a tireless supporter of veterans, their survivors, and our community.

He is an LMT resident, married 45 years to his wife Mary. They have four children and five grandchildren: Ozzie, Freddie, Julia, Logan, and Olivia.
