Wegmans Thief Had Warrants In Several States: Police

A California woman and her brother were nabbed after stealing more than $1,600 in items from the Lower Makefield Township supermarket.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —A California woman and her brother have been charged with stealing more than $1,600 in goods from the Wegmans with the woman wanted in several states, police said.

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department said the retail theft occurred at the Wegmans supermarket in the 900 block of Vasant Drive at 5:30 p.m. on June 20.

Loss Prevention reported a retail theft in progress involving a man and woman who loaded reusable bags with $1,676.07 worth of merchandise and fled the store.

Upon being confronted, the man dropped his bags and fled on foot while the woman fled in an SUV, police said.

The vehicle was stopped on the Interstate 295 West ramp and the 23-year-old woman from BuenaPark, CA, was taken into custody, police said.

Her brother, 18, from Harbra, CA, was apprehended hiding behind a dumpster, police said.

The woman had a federal warrant and warrants from several states.

They were taken into police custody, arraigned by District Justice Wagner, and sent to BCCF in lieu of $100,000 /10 percent bail.
