Yardley-Area Schools Get State Safety Grants
The money will go toward technology, equipment, training and more to help make the schools safer, officials say.

YARDLEY, PA — Schools in the Council Rock, Morrisville and Pennsbury school districts have been awarded state grants that will help with assessments, equipment and training to make them safer.
State Rep. Perry Warren announced the $25,000 school safety grants, from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, on Wednesday. The money comes from a law adopted over the summer that created a school-safety committee within the commission.
School districts that successfully applied for funds through the program will get money to help perform school safety assessments, purchase security-related technology and equipment and support safety-related and behavioral health training.

"I voted to support the creation of this grant program, because keeping our children safe is the most important responsibility we have," said Warren. "Students and staff deserve to feel safe at school, and I’m pleased that all three of the school districts I represent, Council Rock, Morrisville and Pennsbury, took steps to bring this funding to their schools and enhance their security programs."
Additional competitive grants are expected to be released later this year. More information on the grants can be found on the PCCD website.
