Yardley DUI Driver Was Asleep Behind Wheel: Police

YARDLEY, PA — A DUI driver was arrested in Yardley early Sunday morning after reportedly sleeping in his car and driving the wrong way down South Main Street, according to police.

At 12:57 a.m. Sunday, a Yardley Borough Police officer was dispatched to an address on South Main Street to investigate a report of someone sleeping inside a vehicle. While on the way, police say, the officer saw a silver Nissan speeding while in the opposite lane of traffic on South Main.

The Nissan matched the description of the vehicle from the report. The officer was able to stop the Nissan on Makefield Road.

During the investigation, the officer developed cause to believe the driver, a 27-year-old man from Philadelphia, was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was arrested and charged with careless driving and DUI, Yardley Police said.
