55 Nonfatal Rhode Island Overdoses In 1 Week: Department Of Health
The 55 nonfatal overdoses exceeded the average amount.
The Rhode Island Department of Health reported a spike in drug overdoses.
In the week of March 10 through Monday, there were 55 suspected nonfatal overdoses in Rhode Island, the department of health said in a media release.
The average for a week is 41, according to the release.

"Fentanyl continues to be present in the drug supply," the release said.
"It has been detected in stimulants like cocaine and crack cocaine as well as counterfeit pills," according to the release. "Stimulants could be contaminated with fentanyl and put people who use stimulants at risk of an opioid overdose, especially those who do not regularly consume opioids and have a lower opioid tolerance."
