Rhode Island jobs were up by 500 from February to March, the state Department of Labor and Training reported.
Unemployment was also on the rise — but barely. The March unemployment rate was 4.7%, a tenth of a percentage point from the February rate, according to the DLT numbers released Thursday.
The March 2025 unemployment rate was 4.5%.
"The number of unemployed Rhode Island residents — those residents classified as available for and actively seeking employment — was 27,400, up 200 from February," per DLT. "The number of unemployed residents was up 800 over the year."
The number of employed Ocean Staters was 559,800, putting it at 1,900 less than the previous month and down 8,200 year over year, DTL reported.
"The Rhode Island labor force totaled 587,200 in March, down 1,700 over the month and down 7,400 from March 2025," according to DTL.
