BLOCK ISLAND, RI — A rescued seal was released on a Rhode Island beach.
"This morning Mystic Aquarium's Animal Rescue Program was able to return Cannoli to his ocean home!" the aquarium said in a social media post Wednesday.

An entangled, injured Canoli the seal was rescued on Block Island April 18, according to the post.

"Due to the severity of the injury and limited ferry schedules, the United States Coast Guard assisted in transporting the seal to the mainland, where he was brought to Mystic Aquarium for care," the post said.

"Upon arrival, the seal was disentangled, examined, and treated for a severe, deep-tissue wound caused by the entanglement," according to the post. "Despite his injuries, he quickly began eating on his own and made a full recovery!

The official Facebook page of the village of Misquamicut Beach posted video of Canoli's release.
"A beautiful sight this morning as Cannoli found his way back home!" the post said.
