O'Grady has been the director of community investments and senior program officer for Local Initiatives Support Corporation since 2017, according to a media release, and previously was the director of asset management and program manager at One Neighborhood Builders, formerly Olneyville Housing Corporation.

"Jay and I were first elected to the House together and I have always admired his keen intellect, issue-oriented approach and his strong work ethic," Speaker Christopher Blazejewski said in the release.

"He brings vast experience in both public service and the private sector that will greatly benefit the House as we take on the many challenges ahead of us," Blazejewski said.

O'Grady replaces Lynne Urbani, who is now the vice president of strategic initiatives for Neighborhood Health Plan.
