New Details Released On Potential Nor'easter For RI: Here's What To Know

Rhode Island could be in for a stormy weekend, as meteorologists say there is potential for a coastal storm starting Friday and lasting into early next week.

ABC meteorologists say the region "will likely see impacts regardless of the track, with widespread rain and strong winds hitting Providence, Rhode Island, and Boston from Saturday through Tuesday."

The network warns the area could see nearly a half-foot of rain and winds gusting more than 40 mph.

NBC predicted it could get even worse.

"Worst case scenario, winds could exceed 50 mph on the east end of Long Island and the Connecticut coast, close to the center of the low pressure system," NBC reported. "At the Jersey Shore, winds would be lighter and costal impacts less impactful."

WJAR, meanwhile, predicts dry weather through Friday.

"Much of the workweek will be dry, but we're watching potential for a late-week coastal storm that could bring rain and wind to Southern New England," according to the station.

AccuWeather also is monitoring the storm’s track, which will influence its impact.

“Southeastern New England could face the full wrath of a powerful nor'easter or subtropical storm with high winds, rain and coastal flooding,” AccuWeather reported. “A full-blown nor'easter could lead to major travel disruptions due to flooding rain, wind gusts that could trigger power outages and significant coastal flooding.”
