Rhode Island Has 3rd-Lowest Rate Of Unbelted Traffic Deaths: Study

Rhode Island has the third-lowest rate of unbelted traffic deaths, according to a recent study.

"Rhode Island ranks 3rd safest in the country with only 83 people dying not wearing a seat belt over the last 5 years, resulting in just 1.51 deaths per 100,000 residents annually," per a media release accompanying the results of the study conducted by Florida car accident and personal injury attorneys the Blakeley Law Firm.

"Rhode Island's rate is nearly 3x lower than neighboring Connecticut (2.09), 2.5x lower than Maine (4.67) )," the release said. "Only New York and Hawaii rank safer, according to the 50-state analysis by Blakeley Law Firm."

The most dangerous state was Montana, according to the study.
