Rhode Island Most Wanted Fugitive On Run More Than 20 Years Nabbed On Sailboat: Feds
The Rhode Island sex criminal was captured off the coast of New Jersey, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
One of Rhode Island's most wanted fugitives was nabbed on a sailboat off the coast of New Jersey after 2o years on the run, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Ronald Fischer, 70, fled the state during his 2005 trial for first-degree sexual assault. He was subsequently found guilty in absentia and was also wanted on a warrant charging him with jumping bail.
Recently developed information led federal agents and Rhode Island State Police to New York in their hunt for Fischer, according to a media release from the marshals service.

"Investigators determined Fischer was operating a 56-foot sailing vessel, The Silver Lining, which was registered under the name Richard Graydon, an alias used by Fischer," the release said.
"Working from a U.S. Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat, Deputy U.S. Marshals and U.S. Coast Guard personnel located and intercepted the vessel approximately one hour offshore," according to the release. "Fischer was taken into custody without incident."
