Can Spring Cleaning Put Money In Your Pocket?

When it comes to selling your house, yes it can!

It’s common knowledge that a clean, organized home shows better than one that is dirty and chaotic, but can it really put a significant amount of money in your pocket?  The 2012 HomeGains Home Improvement Survey confirms that this one project has the highest potential for return on your investment and could add up to $2,000 onto your sale price.  This only makes sense considering the primary expense to you is your time and labor.  With some basic supplies and the
discipline to relinquish a few items you haven’t used in say, 20 years, you can do some serious damage to the clutter, dust bunnies and cobwebs that might be keeping your home’s value down!

If you’re not sure how to start de-cluttering, try this approach.  Divide items into those that you can give away, those that you should throw away, and those you think you need to keep.  Once you’ve gone through this exercise once, go back to the “keep” pile and do it all over again, weeding out anything else you can live without.  Box and neatly store items that you wish to hang on to but don’t necessarily need to be displayed when showing your home.
