Don't Forget The Curb Appeal!

Improving Your Home's Curb Appeal Can Help You Sell Faster And Be Easier Than You Think!

When preparing your home for sale in the spring and summer markets, landscaping and curb appeal are king!  The question as to where to focus your energies and dollars can be debated.  While backyard spaces can be a true extension of one's living space and a huge bonus in appeal factor, front yards, entryways and porches are the buyers first glimpse at your home and make the first and most lasting impression.  You won't typically see a listing agent greeting you at the back door!

Focus first on what buyers will see first, then move to additonal outdoor spaces.  Start with lawn care and repair any cracks or chips in exterior paint, pathways or porches.  Consider removing or replacing shutters that are tired or don't coordinate.  Replace old or outdated hardware and add a stylish doorknocker, address plate or mailbox.  Add flower boxes, potted plants or other colorful accessories where possible and if you can find a spot to place a chair, bench or swing that gives the impression of a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, take advantage!

Don't have a big budget?  You can do a lot with a little in this area if you're willing to put in a little time and effort.  Start by looking at what you have in your garage, basement or shed.  A simple power washing can do wonders for an old porch, patio or outdoor furniture.  Try a Magic Eraser to get plastic, metal or aluminum items sparkling again. Have you seen what spray paint can do lately?  If not, take a look at the new varieties of primers and paints that are able to adhere to plastics, metals or wood surfaces. A coat of spray paint can bring back to life anything from a flower pot to patio chairs.  And...if you decide to try your hand at spraying, pay a few extra dollars for a trigger-like handle attachment.  Your fingers will thank you!
