NHL Trade Deadline Review
A look at what moves were made in the NHL as the trade deadline passes.
This year's NHL trade deadline was anything but exciting and chaotic, at least until the last 20 minutes. With an hour left before the deadline, there were only four transactions made and none of them were household names. This brought worry to many NHL fans when their teams were not making moves, but there ended up being trades that satisfied fans of certain teams.
There were some big name players that got moved to new teams. New York Rangers star forward Marian Gaborik was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets for forward Derek Dorsett, center Derick Brasssard, and defensmen John Moore. This one was a shocking transaction because of the fact that such a big name was going to a small market team. Another transaction that occured today was Sabres forward and captian Jason Pominville went to Minnesota for forward Johan Larsson, goalie Matt Hackett, a 2013 first round pick, and a 2014 second round pick.
In total, there were 17 trades These big moves will certainly help the teams involved and it will be interesting to see who will have the biggest effect from this trade deadline in the upcoming games.
