Scandals Give NCAA a Bad Reputation

Two recent scandals have happened that show what really goes on in the NCAA.

What is better than on a brisk fall Saturday sitting down all day and watching college football? I certainly cannot name a lot of things that are. College sports bring so much media attention to the players and coaches and when something goes wrong, there is endless coverage about the scandals.

This past week, Rutgers University boys basketball coach Mike Rice was fired because of mistreating his players during practice. He would shove them, hit them, kick them, throw basketballs at them, and call them homophobic slurs. This is completely unacceptable and he should be banned from sports forver because of this instance.

Another situation that is under investigation this week is that Auburn University changed the grades of some of their star players in order for them to be eligible to play. This situation definitely serious, but this could be happening at many schools that we do not know about.

Of course, this brings up the question "What else don't we know about the NCAA?" But what we do know is one thing is for certain; the two coaches involved with these recent scandals will never be seen coaching in the NCAA again.
