Welker Gone, Welcome Amendola

Big changes are taking place which is bringing new faces to New England

Former New England Patriot wide reciever Wes Welker signed a two-year $12 million contract with the Denver Broncos, ESPN.com reports.

With Welker's departure, it has opened up the door for the Patriots to pursue free agent WR Danny Amendola of the St. Louis Rams. Just a little while after Welker's signing, the Patriots signed Amendola for a five-year, $31 million contract, according to ESPN.com.

Amendola certainly has big shoes to fill due to the offensive impact that Welker has brought to New England, but I am certain that he will fill the role just fine. He is a talented young reciever and at one point led the NFL in recieving yards before suffering a shoulder injury that shortened his season.

With the signing of Amendola, New England fans are still hoping for a big name cornerback to be signed. That was a problem last year and with New England cornerback Aqib Talib being a free agent this year, Patriot fans are hoping for a resigning of Talib or any other big name corners that are still available on the market. One thing is for certain, it will be interesting to see what other moves are made by the Patriots this offseason.
