Barrington Enrichment Summer Theater
WHAT: BEST is a Town of Barrington summer theater camp which will run two separate 3-week sessions. Each session will include at least 6 plays with 60 roles for kids ages 8-18. On average, full day participants act in three plays per 3-week session. Each show will rehearse for one hour a day, with a final performance at the end of the session. The second session will also include an optional Musical Review! While kids are not rehearsing they are immersed in performance workshops including but not limited to: Improvisation, Stage Combat, Vocalization,Movement for the Actor, Juggling & Poi, Playwriting, Characterization, as well as many others.
WHEN: Session I: Begins June 25th Shows on Friday July 13th and Saturday July 14th
Session II: Begins July 16th Shows on Friday August 3rd and Saturday August 4th
Camp runs Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Campers can also choose to do our half-day option and come for either the morning or afternoon only. Morning campers arrive at 8:00 and leave at 11:00. Afternoon campers arrive at Noon and leave at 3:00 as camp ends. Half-day campers can only be guaranteed to be in one play, although they may end in two. Half-day campers are included in all morning or afternoon activities and workshops.
WHERE Camp is held from 8-3 at the Barrington High School Auditorium. Rehearsals and workshops will take place in the auditorium, cafeteria, and classrooms. The final two days of each session will be held at the Barrington Public Library Auditorium for Tech and Dress Rehearsals. Performances are held at the Library.
REGISTRATION Forms are now available at the Town Manager's Office at the Barrington Town Hall.
ONE WEEK OPTION Kids with schedules too busy to do a full 3-week session can sign up for a 1-week option. 1-Week campers come for the full day and partake in all of the performance workshops throughout the day. Howeverthey cannot participate in the main-stage shows. Instead, campers who come for only 1-week will rehearse a short scene for an hour a day, and perform them for the other campers on Friday during the lunch period.
