Firefighters' Local 1774 is hosting a fundraising 5K road race with a cookout and activities for families before and after the race.The family events include 50-yard and 100-yard children’s races on Lincoln Avenue starting at 9 am. Trophies will be awarded. The road race starts at 10:15 am. View a map of the course at www.barringtonrifire.com.
Registration is $15 with a $5 discount for gym members, students, police officers, firefighters, EMTs, military and health-care professionals. Register in advance on the website or on the day of the race.
The post-5K activities include a runners’ raffle, music by a DJ, refreshments, games, fire prevention demonstrations, and the cookout. Proceeds go to support local charities.
