Tired of those piles of plastic grocery bags under your sink or in your closet? Belatedly celebrate Earth Day by upcycling them into fabulous crocheted items. Plastic crochet is durable, waterproof, and machine-washable. You'll think of a million uses for using plastic yarn, "plarn," including reusable tote bags, beach bags, welcome mats for muddy shoes, rugs, and more. In this two-hour workshop you'll learn how to make plarn from plastic bags, and start a tote bag. Participants should know basic crochet stitches including the chain stitch, single crochet, and half double crochet.
Please bring:
20-30 plastic bags (grocery bags from Shaw's or Stop and Shop are great; but other plastic bags work too - the crinklier the better)
a crochet hook (size K-P, whatever you feel comfortable with)
scissors (or a rotary cutter and mat)
