INGRID BERGMAN WEDNESDAY MATINEE FILM LECTURE SERIES

Ingrid Bergman: A Celebration, librarian Doug Swiszcz's film lecture series, continues on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 PM at the Barrington Public Library. Mr. Swiszcz offers commentary before each week's screening. The series is free and open to all.

On March 19th, Spellbound (1945) will be shown. One of three films that Bergman made with director Alfred Hitchcock, Spellbound casts the actress as Dr. Constance Petersen, a psychoanalyst at a Vermont mental institution, who tries to unravel the mystery of the real identity of John Edwardes (Gregory Peck), the new head physician. Bouts of amnesia find Edwardes struggling to connect with events from his past that he has tried to suppress. Exactly what is his story? Is he dangerous? Spurring her on in her quest to help the doctor is the fact that Constance has become romantically drawn to him. (Black and white; 111 min.)

Here's the rest of the lineup:

March 26th:  Anastasia
April 2nd:     The Inn of the Sixth Happiness
