Tie Follows First Loss for Eagles Field Hockey Team
Barrington High School battles to an overtime tie against Bay View Academy

Coming off their only loss in two seasons, the Barrington High School field hockey team played to an overtime scoreless tie against Bay View Academy Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 19.
The Eagles played strong, creating multiple scoring chances, but they just couldn't capitalize.
At the start of the game, both teams seemed to maintain equal possession. Each squad fought their way toward the opponent's goal, although neither could make anything happen.

Halfway through the first half, Bay View had their first solid opportunity to pull ahead with a shot fired toward the goal, but they couldn't put the ball away.
Bay View Head Coach Bonnie Higgins knew that this game would be important to her team.

"Barrington to them is always a big game," Higgins said. "We just couldn't capitalize on our opportunities."
Bay View ended the first half with a solid scoring opportunity inside the 16-yard circle but the ball was batted away by a Barrington defender. Eagles goalie Sophie Faxon had only one marked save in the game.
Although Barrington continued to dominate through the first half, Bay View had the most scoring opportunities.
Early in the second half, Barrington dominated the field, keeping the Bay View defense active. With a penalty corner and a chance to score, Barrington couldn't get ball in the back of the net.
Barrington ended the game with 18 penalty corners; Bay View only tallied 7.
"We had so many scoring opportunities in the past three games," Barrington head coach Lee Markowski said. "We have to score goals in order to be successful."
"Our scoring chances need to improve," Markowski added. "We've been working on it and we'll continue to in order to be a championship team."
Bay View goalie Anna Procaccini played a great game, tallying 10 saves and never letting Barrington get too close.
With their loss against Lincoln School last week and their tie with Bay View, Barrington drops to the number two spot in the division. The Eagles next game will be on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Burriville.
