Viewfinder: Take a Peek at One of Barrington's Architectural Treasures

Former Zion Bible campus holds Belton Court, a historic mansion often referred to as the 'castle'.

Kind of tucked away on Primrose Hill on the north side of Barrington is one of the town's architectural and historic treasures.

Belton Court is referred to often as the "castle" in Barrington and is known most recently as the Gibson Memorial Building at the former Zion Bible Institute. Vacant for several years since the college moved to Massachusetts, the stone mansion with a distinctive tower may be the central player in the possible purchase of the campus by the town.

With 50,000 square feet of space, the structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. But it is falling into a bit of disrepair as moisture is damaging some of the plaster walls. Here's a quick peek at Belton Court, mostly inside and outside.
