Foster Man Killed After Crashing Into Connecticut House

The Killingly residence was unoccupied when the Foster man ran his GMC Sierra off the road and into it, police said.

KILLINGLY, CT — A Foster man was killed when he crashed into a Connecticut house Wednesday night, police said.

Matthew Sherman, 42, was heading west on Route 101 near Valley Road shortly before 10:30 p.m. when he "failed to negotiate a curve" in 2023 GMC Sierra, according to a Connecticut State Police report.

The pickup ran off the road, "struck multiple mailboxes, a street sign, and a residential structure," the report said.

Sherman "sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene," according to the report.

The house "sustained catastrophic damage," the report said.

The home was searched by Urban Search and Rescue ... and determined to be unoccupied at the time of the collision," per the report. "This collision remains under investigation."
