Stella Blues' "Finish for a Guiness" 5K Steps Off Sept 4

On Sunday Sept. 4 runners can join together on the beautiful historic Warren Waterfront for the 3rd Annual Stella Blues “Finish for a Guinness” 5k-road race.

If you register prior to Sept. 1, you will receive a long sleeve t-shirt; the cost is $22; race day registration is $25.  Registration opens at 8:30 am from the Stella Blues Restaurant on 50 Miller Street in Warren and racing starts promptly at 10 am.   The course is USATF certified.

Post race events include free beer, music and local food venues at the Old Warren Marina on the beautiful Warren River.  Awards will be given to the top finishers in multiple age groups.

This charitable event is being held to raise awareness and funds for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. In the winter of 2008 Christopher Stone was diagnosed with ALS at the young age of 33. As a result, the Christopher Stone Fund was established to help support the Stone family as they went through this challenging time. Sadly, Chris lost his fight in the summer of 2009, less than a year after being diagnosed. However, the Christopher Stone Fund continues to actively raise funds for local ALS Chapters, as well as, other charitable causes.

This horrific disease affects over 30,000 people just in the USA. Caring for individuals with ALS is often expensive and emotionally straining. We hope this race will help provide ALS victims, families, and caretakers with the most fulfilling quality of life during this most trying time.
