BCWA Appointment Open to All Bristol Residents
Letter imploring people to apply for the open position in Bristol of Director the the BCWA.
There is an appointment for Director of the position that is now available in Bristol. In the past this position was filled only by recommendations put forth by the Democrat and Republican Chairmen of the town. it was unanimously approved to give the opportunity to apply for this position to ALL residents of the Town of Bristol. We commend the Town Council for this action. Water is not political, and the appointments of those who safeguard our water should not be political either.
There have been many positive changes to the BCWA this past year. We have a , who was introduced at the meeting in Bristol last night. We also have three, soon to be five, new town directors, bringing an infusion of fresh ideas and energy to the task at hand. There is a realistic opportunity for change with these new appointments and that is encouraging.
The BCWA needs board members who understand the basic responsibilities of running an organization. If you, or someone you know falls into this category this would be a great time to volunteer your services to help our water authority get on the right track. What a great public service this would be! Nothing is more important than clean, abundant water for our children and our grand-children!

Regular flushing of the water mains had been suspended for the past four years by Mr. Delise to save money. It is important that this task be reinstated for personal health and safety reasons. Bacteria will thrive in stagnant water and many towns who neglected their flushing routines have encountered cryptosporodium, which is a protozoan that can cause gastro-intenstinal illness with diarrhea in humans. It is typically an acute short-term infection but can become severe and non-resolving in children and immunocompromised individuals.
The problem with the low-pressure area in Bristol and Warren that affects 2900 customers has been shelved for six years due to lack of funds.

They have not yet made a commitment/decision on a redundant source of water, vacillating between completing the Shad, and choosing to tie in with Pawtucket.
If you have an interest in helping to solve these problems, please contact Lou Cirillo at the Bristol Town Hall and he can provide you with the necessary paperwork. The appointment is tentatively scheduled for April 4th. Again, this is a great time to get in on the bottom floor of the revamping of our water authority and to really make a difference!
Please think about it! You will have lots of support!
