Boys State Program Gearing Up for New Year
Students can join us in a week that shapes a lifetime.
I am a representative of the American Legion's Boys State Program and would like to announce that our program is gearing up for a new session that will run from June 17 through June 22 at .
This program is open to students that have completed their junior year of high school throughout the state of RI. The program centers around the understanding of our Democratic system, as the students become part of the legislative process, electing officials, preparing bills to be presented at a mock senate session at the House chambers in Providence on Thursday of that week. The students elect their governing body of a Govenor, Lt. Govenor, Treasurer, AG, and Secretary of State.
At the closing of the program, two students that will have been selected by the class as the most outstanding students will go to Washington, DC in July to represent RI in the Legion's National Program Boys' Nation.
