Bristol Town Council Conducts Interviews for New Bristol BCWA Directors
Update on interviews for Bristol Directors to BCWA
The Bristol Town Council held interviews for the two open positions of BCWA director in Bristol on Wednesday night.
Apparently John Faria, Chairman of the Democrat Town Committee withdrew the recommendation of reappointment of Josep Rego. He submitted the names of Gerald Mederos and Paul Bishop as replacement recommendations.
Joe Demelo was interviewed first. What I found most interesting was that David Barboza questioned Joe Demelo on his political affilitation. He noted that Mr. Demelo had been a Democrat, then changed to Republican, and was an East Bay Patriot? I asked if I could make a clarifiation for the record and stated that East Bay Patriots was NOT a political party and was completely non-partisan. The mission of the group is to provide information to the electorate.

I fail to see how this questioning of political affiliation fits in to the interview. Yes, we are aware that there can be no more than two directors from any one party, but other than making that distinction, any other information as to why you changed parties, etc. is certainly private information.
The other applicant was Gerald Mederos who admittedly was not familiar with any of the current issues of the BCWA, had not read the B&E report, but was very interested in getting involved.

There will be a special meeting to interview the third candidate, Paul Bishop, at 6:30pm Monday at the Town Hall.
The decision will be made next Wednesday night at the Town Council meeting.
