It’s a double dose of laughter with back-to-back comedies by French masters: Jean Racine’s “The Suitors” (translated by Richard Wilbur) is a rhyming verse romp that hazes the legal profession and the lawsuit-happy litigants who keep the judges well bribed, the lawyers well-heeled, and the audience in stitches. Paired with Moliere’s “A Doctor in Spite of Himself” where a simple marital squabble escalates into comic pandemonium, giving a whole new meaning to “playing doctor”.
