This important tsunami relief benefit is dedicated to raising funds for Japan’s Yamada Junior High School. Yamada Junior High School is located the lwate Prefecture, and specially selected as the benefit’s recipient by Governor Heita Kawakatsu of Shizuoka Prefecture and Mayor Naoki Ishii of Shimoda, Shizuoka, Japan, the sister city of Newport, Rhode Island. After the tsunami hit Iwate Prefecture, Yamada High School has been used as a shelter for those who lost their homes to the tsunami.
