Animation: The Art and Science of Visual Perception!

On Wednesday, July 6th, Rogers Free Library will host the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art’s teen summer presentation “Animation: The Art and Science of Visual Perception”. Learn about “persistence of vision” – the name often given to the way the human brain blends sudden changes into smooth motion.  It is this interpretation by our brains that make movies possible.  Make a Victorian era animation (a thaumatrope) to take home, and work in small groups to make your own stop-motion film to be premiered at the end of the outreach and to be viewed later on the RIMOSA website.

This presentation will be held in the Herreshoff Community Room at the Rogers Free Library on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Young Adults ages 11-18 years of age are welcome. There is a maximum of 25 participants, so call (401) 253-6948 to register, or stop by the children’s room for more information!
