Art in the Garden: Illuminating Nature, by Ellen Hoverkamp

Artist Ellen Hoverkamp was a pioneer in the use of the flatbed scanner in creating fine art. Her technique involves making intricate arrangements from plants, vegetables, and natural objects directly on the scanner.  The light from the scanner reflects the subject, with the arrangement appearing to glow against a dark background in the resulting photograph. She has also collaborated on, and illustrated, Ken Druse’s new, critically acclaimed book,  Natural Companions: The Garden Lover's Guide to Plant Combinations.

Join us for an evening with Ellen Hovercamp, as she takes us through her creative process and shares some of her exquisite work, including freshly “minted” scanner art containing materials from Blithewold’s gardens and grounds.

Hovercamp will be glad to sign copies of Natural Companions: The Garden Lover's Guide to Plant Combinations, which will be available for purchase.
