First Baptist Church will host its fourth annual all youth cantata “Christmas Candles” on Sunday, December 11 at 10:30 a.m. The service opens with the ringing of the 189 year old bell by a young person of the church. Then the retelling of the Christmas story in song, scripture readings, and special music will be performed by the young people’s Baptist Band which includes members Brianna Ritoli of Bristol, Kylie McPherson of Warren, Audrey Duarte of Riverside and Abraham Gilbert of South County. Brittany Joubert of Bristol will sing a solo “The Friendly Beasts” and Sunday school students will sing “Go, Tell It on the Mountain”. A lighting of five candles representing Hope, Faith, Peace, Joy, and Love will take place and the program ends with the youth bringing their favorite stuffed animal to the crèche in a moving tribute to the animals surrounding the Christ child in the manger. After the service everyone is invited to attend a potluck luncheon.
