The Alive! Arts Series presents The GIMP Project, a multimedia experiment that challenges notions of dance, performance and body image while encouraging dialogue and exposure to the disability arts. A project of the respected Heidi Latsky Dance Company, GIMP will be the focus of a residency program on campus that will conclude with a public performance on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
GIMP features trained dancers and performers, some with physical disabilities, who explore body image and physical disability in relation to the nature of dance and performance. Members of the Heidi Latsky Dance Company, including Ms. Latsky – a renowned director, choreographer and performer – will be on campus from Thursday, Feb. 3, through Saturday’s public performance. In addition to the GIMP roster, the public performance will also include dancers from RWU and the greater Rhode Island community
