John Patrick Shanley’s award-winning drama, “Doubt: A Parable,” is set at a Bronx Catholic high school in 1964. Sister Aloysius, a doctrine-wielding, terror-inspiring principal of the church school, takes matters into her own hands when she feels certain the young priest Father Flynn has had improper relations with a male student. The widely acclaimed play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play in 2005. The production is directed by Peter Wright, professor of theatre at RWU.
“It’s a brilliant and powerful drama,” says Wright. “A provocative investigation of truth and consequences, compassion and discipline. Shanley expertly balances conflicting viewpoints and keeps the audience questioning the integrity of its characters until the very end.”
