Mount Hope Farm will celebrate the holiday season and its newly renovated Education Center at the Holiday Farmers Market on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 9 am to 1 pm.
Market Go-ers and guests can enjoy the Mount Hope Farmers Market’s amazing selection of produce and food stuffs provided by local growers. There will be live music inside the Farm’s historic Barn, cheerfully decked out in holiday décor for all to enjoy. The Farm’s 4H Clubs will offer a Photo Fun area featuring the farm’s “Goats in Santa Hats” by the newly restored historic Playhouse and kids cookie decorating in the Farm’s historic potting shed. Visitors will be greeted and serenaded by the Mount Hope Farm What the Dickens Caroling Troupe made up of six RI teens and Farm Executive Director Jennifer Bristol, all in full Victorian garb.; the group has rehearsed and performed in and around Bristol this holiday season and is proud to have collected donations supporting the work of the Bristol Historical Society.
At 11 am, the Farm will officially cut the ribbon on its new Education Center. Both the Education Center renovation and Playhouse restoration were generously funded by The Champlin Foundations and an anonymous donor and will afford the Farm new space for its children’s programs including 4H Clubs and kids after school and summer camps; and will also provide additional learning and resource space for adult learning including the Farm’s new project work with the URI Master Gardeners and other educational workshops to be offered throughout the year. The Open House in the Education Center will feature a Photo Exhibit by Dave Slipp, Bristol photographer and farm friend, who has created a 2016 Farm Calendar to compliment the photo exhibit and sale.
“We are grateful to The Champlin Foundations for their support of the Farm’s mission and our efforts to provide quality programming for Rhode Islanders of all ages,” said Executive Director Jennifer Bristol. “The Education Center renovation and the historic Playhouse restoration were both critical to enhancing our kids programs and we look forward to offering new programs for adults in the coming year as well!”
