Jamiel's Shoe World Returns
Under new local ownership, the iconic shoe store is planning a grand opening this weekend.

Seven months after the 75-year-old business shut down, Jamiel's Shoe World has made its return, with new ownership, but a familiar face when you walk in the door.
Local businessman David Grande, who owns two shoe stores in North Providence and Pawtucket and wanted to expand to the East Bay, and bought the iconic downtown Warren shoe store, wjar.com reported. Former owner Francis Jamiel is once again managing the store that was in his family since 1937.
Jamiel closed the store in April. It quietly reopened recently under new owners Savon Shoes, planning its grand opening for this weekend. Despite the new ownership, the Jamiel's sign will remain on the building.
